A bit about Martin
Heavily influenced by my career in design and consumer sciences I take a social psychologist’s approach to the art I create. I am interested in the situational and contextual factors that drive human behaviour. When you’re seeking to explain or understand a person’s actions and reactions, looking at the social norms, and the person’s context are often what is most influential and are what is most overlooked by others. I want to push people to respond to other people’s actions with curiosity rather than judgment and understand that situational constraints can influence behaviour as much as personality, intelligence or other individual level traits.
I aim to lure people into these discussions with bold abstract figures, that are instantly relatable while being highly unspecific.
I work mostly with acrylics, oil pastels and charcoal.
